Mobile Gaming Hasn’t Killed Consoles Yet – Find Out How

Posted on August 7, 2012

“I agree with Seamus Blackley, mobile and social gaming has had some impact on the gaming market, but the size, quality, and complexity of these games aren’t anything that directly compete with consoles or the PC. There still is a definite future for both at least for now, and I see them both expanding and becoming more profitable in the years to come”, said Joseph Eleam, Account Manager at SiteMinis, Atlanta.

Xbox co-creator Seamus Blackley says the rumors of console gaming’s imminent death have been greatly exaggerated, adding that mobile and social gaming experience will complement consoles, not crush them. “Any business model will work as long as you have the content,” said Blackley, who earlier this year launched mobile gaming startup Innovative Leisure. “It is the medium that pulls people through the business models and not the other way around. You can now make mobile games that are really compelling. It no longer requires a high-cost device. But there’s nothing like playing Uncharted on a console in front of your TV.” Article
